Piercing FAQ – Everything You Actually Want to Know

Q: How old do I have to be to get pierced?

A: In California, you must be 18+ with valid ID to get pierced without a parent. Minors need a parent or legal guardian present, their own ID or birth certificate, and the parent’s matching ID. Certain piercings have minimum age limits, which we’ll go over at your consult.

Q: Do I need an appointment?

A: Appointments are highly recommended, but we take walk-ins if time allows. To guarantee a spot and avoid waiting, book ahead.

Q: Do piercings hurt?

A: It’s a needle, not a feather. That said, most people say it’s a quick pinch and totally manageable. Some spots sting more than others—we’ll walk you through it.

Q: What kind of jewelry do you use?

A: Only implant-grade, internally threaded, high-quality metals—like titanium, surgical steel, or gold. Safe for your body, always sterile, no exceptions.

Q: How do I take care of my new piercing?

A: We’ll send you home with full aftercare instructions, but here’s the short version:

No touching it with dirty hands

No twisting

No alcohol or peroxide

• Use sterile saline spray 2–3 times daily

Leave the jewelry in (yes, even if it’s irritated)

Q: Can I bring my own jewelry?

A: No. We can’t guarantee the quality or sterilization of outside jewelry. For your safety, we only pierce with what we know is safe and sterile.

Q: What if I change my mind after the piercing?

A: Piercings are a commitment. We’ll talk you through everything beforehand, but once it’s done, it’s done. There are no refunds on body modifications.

Q: How long does it take to heal?

A: Depends on the piercing:

• Earlobes: 6–8 weeks

• Cartilage: 4–12 months

• Nostril: 2–6 months

• Septum: 6–12 weeks

• Navel: 6 months to a year

We’ll give you healing timelines specific to your piercing.

Q: What if I think it’s infected?

A: Don’t panic. Redness, swelling, and some discharge are normal early on. If you think it’s more than that, contact us before going DIY on it—bad advice online can wreck a piercing.

Q: Can I go swimming after a piercing?

A: Not immediately. Pools, lakes, oceans, hot tubs—all off-limits for at least 4 weeks or until fully healed. Bacteria + fresh piercing = bad time.

Q: Can I get pierced while pregnant or breastfeeding?

A: Nope. Your immune system’s already working overtime and healing could be compromised. Wait until you’re fully healed post-baby.
